    Job Title: Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst

    Job Summary:

    The Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst is a corporate staff position responsible for providing general oversight and management of Nation's Finest financial records. This mid-level exempt position provides support for the day-to-day operations of the Finance department and reports directly to the Controller.

    Job Duties:
    1. Maintain the general ledger and reporting table. Lead the monthly close and ensure that reconciliations are completed.
    2. Complete funding request and reporting of multiple government and other grants.
    3. Review and direct all ledger postings from subsystems and external processing systems.
    4. Review and evaluate our methodology of applying cost allocation percentages to various programs are appropriate and reasonable.
    5. Create custom reports using DrillPoint and prepare multi-segment monthly financial statements timely.
    6. Participate and/or lead cross-department special projects such as new software implementation.
    7. Suggest and implements improvements to processes and systems.
    8. Support and develops an organic, cooperative environment. Mentors wherever possible.
    9. Assist with audits and prepares documents for CPA-prepared tax returns.
    10. Other duties as assigned.
    Required Job Skills:
    1. Physical ability to sit or stand at a computer workstation for extended periods with or without an accommodation.
    2. Ability to type approximately 45 words per minute.
    3. A motivated, innovative self-starter who can work independently and also cooperatively work with other staff in a team environment.
    4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    5. Ability to work in an occasionally stressful environment, to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and to meet established deadlines.
    6. Ability to prioritize work tasks and efficiently allocate and manage time.
    7. Advanced computer skills with regard to accounting software and Excel. Experience with MS Office programs.
    8. Ability and willingness to train and mentor other accounting team members.
    9. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
    10. Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret and apply common sense from a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
    11. Time Management: uses time efficiently and effectively, sets priorities and values time.
    12. Experience with Department of Veterans Affairs accounting and reporting highly desirable.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required.
    • CPA or prior certification highly desirable.
    • Experience with general ledger functions, month-end/year-end close process, custom report writing, and project management.
    • Advanced MS Excel skills.
    • Strong customer service, communication, attention to details, and organizational skills.
    • Five years' full-time experience in an accounting role, with a minimum of one year of experience working in an accounting role within non-profit fund accounting, preferably with an organization operating multiple programs in various geographical areas.
    • Computer proficiency with accounting software and database programs. Experience with Abila (previously MIP) Nonprofit Fund Accounting Software a plus.

    This is a full-time, exempt role who works as part of the Nation's Finest management team. This role is eligible for participation in the organization's comprehensive benefits package.

    Office space is available in Santa Rosa, CA and Sacramento, CA. Remote candidates will also be considered.

    Full-time, starting salary $75,000 - $88,000, DOE.
