The Certified Medical Assistant is a skilled healthcare professional responsible for providing direct or indirect patient care within the scope of practice and in accordance with high standards of excellence and quality.
Working under the guidance of the healthcare provider, the Medical Assistant assists in addressing the patient's main concerns (such as respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, and temperature), records patient/family requirements, participates in care planning and implementation, and administers prescribed medications (oral, injection, topically, etc.) following Medical Assisting guidelines and state regulations.
Essential Job FunctionsActive certification as a Medical Assistant is required. BLS Basic Life Support certification preferred upon hire, required before handling independent patient care.
EducationHigh School Diploma or GED required. Completion of externship or clinical lab training mandatory. 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience preferred.
Working ConditionsVarious physical demands including lifting, carrying, bending, standing, and more.
Additional Physical Requirements/HazardsManual dexterity, shift work, hearing alarms, and exposure to different materials and environments.
