    Fourth Street Clinic , in downtown Salt Lake City , has been providing essential health care services to those experiencing homelessness for nearly 35 years.

    For many Utahns experiencing homelessness, Fourth Street Clinic is their first and only chance at a diagnosis and ongoing treatment.

    By increasing access to primary medical care, behavioral health, dental, pharmacy, specialty care, health education, and supportive services we are a major partner in ending homelessness, promoting community health, and achieving across-the-board healthcare savings.

    The Fourth Street Clinic Lab Coordinator role is at our main clinic at 409 West 400 South in downtown Salt Lake City and will also travel to some outreach locations in the Salt Lake Valley .

    This role provides direct care to our patients and manages the daily working s of the lab with another Lab Coordinator, the MA Manager , and the Nursing Director .

    The team assists primary care, behavioral health, and many specialty provider staff both at our main hub and at outreach sites with our mobile clinic .Our lab staff demonstrates a range of talents that include clinical and administrative capabilities, providing many opportunities to positively impact patients' lives.

    This role is busy , varied, and requires enthusiasm, flexibility, and commitmen t .

    This includes taking a patient's medical history, collecting, and preparing blood and other specimen s for testing, processing lab specimens, and maintaining lab supplies and equipment.

    It requires both phlebotomy and specimen - processing skills, so being a n organized, multi-skilled technician is a must .

    You will also work with our O utreach T eam to ensure compliance requirements are met through documentation and data collection.

    Core ResponsibilitiesPerform blood and specimen collection following laboratory guidelines.
    Assist in training all clinic staff on Lab policy and procedures and manufacturer-specific training.

    Responsible for transportation, verification, and integrity of medical specimens from one location to another by recording, monitoring, and maintaining the temperature ranges for frozen, ambient, incubated, and refrigerated laboratory specimens.

    Perform and document quality control and equipment maintenance within predetermined parameters.
    Organize and maintain lab database, including maintaining all relevant logs for all lab and lab license needs.
    Monitor and evaluate lab inventory and supplies, including the process of ordering inventorying, stocking, and evaluation of par levels.
    Minimum requirementsProvide quality patient care as it pertains to performing phlebotomy procedures.
    Stand and walk for 70% of the time.
    Tolerate standing while performing bloodwork.
    Have sufficient eye/hand coordination skills related to the performance of phlebotomy procedures.
    Be able to use senses (vision, hearing, smell, and touch) to recognize changes in a patient's condition and needs.

    Be able to hear, understand, and react quickly to verbal instructions and patient needs, including but not exclusive to hearing codes, alarms, and patient calls.

    Be able to maneuver in the laboratory around instruments, in confined spaces, and in patient rooms.
    Be able to manipulate small objects and control adaptive devices using glove technique.
    Provide physical and emotional support to the patient during phlebotomy procedures.
    Perform phlebotomy procedures according to established OSHA standards.
    Distinguish red, yellow, and blue colors. Distinguish clear from cloudy fluid.
