    The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is a unique national research facility that carries out robotic space and Earth science missions.

    About Flight Software Engineering

    Flight Software Engineering involves designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining the software that powers spacecraft and their instruments.

    It's a crucial discipline that enables the functionality and mission success of these complex systems during their journeys through space.

    Flight Software Engineers create software for various systems including guidance, navigation and control, power systems, scientific instruments, and communication systems.

    Their work ensures that the spacecraft can respond to commands, carry out mission objectives, and transmit data back to Earth.

    Job Description


    As an Entry-Level Flight Software Engineer at JPL, you will become part of a team dedicated to exploring the universe.

    You'll contribute to extraordinary missions that could range from studying Mars, to investigating distant asteroids, or even crossing into interstellar space.


    Your responsibilities will include:
    Participating in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment.
    Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design, code, test, and debug mission-critical software.
    Assisting in the integration and testing of software with spacecraft hardware.
    Supporting mission operations by troubleshooting and resolving software issues.
    Preferred Qualifications

    A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    Proficiency in C or C++, with a background in developing software for real-time systems.
    Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
