    Position Summary:
    The purpose of this position is to prepare machine proposals for The Gleason Works, Rochester (GWR) product line. Types of proposals range from standard machine offerings to customized and extensive multiple machine programs.

    Proposal creation includes determining machining process, machine model and configuration, and the coordination of the response to the customer's request for commercial details, specials, specifications, production analysis, automation, and tooling.

    This position also acts as a focal point for process and product questions, which originate from both Sales and external customers.


    Job Responsibilities:
    Prepare machine proposals for GWR manufactured products.

    Support proposal follow-up with Sales and external customers.

    Distribute information to the relevant disciplines, both at GWR and at other Gleason locations. Compile response to customer issues and edit machine proposals accordingly.

    Maintain accurate records and documentation for quality systems.

    Interact with team members to settle matters of strategy and pricing.

    Respond to customer and Sales' general questions regarding the GWR machine product line.

    Perform research and investigation as required.

    Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

    Basic understanding of the related machining processes (cutting, grinding, lapping, testing, hobbing, shaping)

    General knowledge of the GWR product line is desirable.

    Experience in a multi-tasking, customer-oriented work environment is preferred.


    Must have technical knowledge of machine families and the ability to successfully interface with both internal and external customers in a professional manner.

    Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are essential.

    Business acumen relating to industrial capital goods contracts, INCOTERMS, financial processes, scheduling, and planning.


    Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

    3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Computer Skills:
    Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

    Travel Requirements:
    Less than 10%
