    Description

    Overview:

    The Nurse Aide in Training program provides online and on-the-floor training as a Nurse Aide. To be eligible for education assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide, employees must demonstrate good customer service, reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.

    Depending on availability and learning preferences, education assistance will be provided at no cost through one of the following avenues:

    • Classes on or offsite at a Regency location.
    • A local program offered by a community college or technical school.
    • An internship and a waiver to skip classes but pass a skills check and practice exam provided by the facility, qualifying the employee to schedule testing.

    Nurse Aide and CNA Role:

    Nurse Aides and CNAs work under the direction of Charge Nurses, providing assigned residents with assistance for activities of daily living outlined in the resident's customized care plan.

    To succeed in this role, Nurse Aides and CNAs must be compassionate, friendly, and enjoy helping others to provide personal care expected.

    Essential Functions:

    1. Provide residents with comfort and safety, detecting and reporting situations that may cause resident accidents or injuries.
    2. Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with resident care policy and procedure.
    3. Assist with customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment, such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing food intake, hair and nail care, moving residents, lifting, and transferring.
    4. Utilize and log care provided into Electronic Medical Records system.
    5. Measure and record vital signs.
    6. Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes of conditions to nursing staff.
    7. Maintain care of equipment and supplies.
    8. Walk with ambulatory residents or push in a wheelchair as required.
    9. Safely perform movements like pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting over 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
    10. Answer call lights in a timely manner, addressing resident needs or determining if assistance is needed from a Charge Nurse or another department.
    11. Provide good customer service, using tactful and appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
    12. Perform other duties assigned by Administrator or Nurse Management.

    Qualifications:

    Job Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
    • Experience as a caregiver is preferred.
    • Good communication skills.
