- Offer advocacy and accompaniment services to clients of all ages at the Safe Home, facilitating engagements with various entities based on individual needs.
- Respond to hotline calls, offering information, referrals, and crisis support.
- Follow up with potential clients who have reported experiences of violence.
- Record agency's responses to violence reports.
- Transport clients to appointments when required.
- Conduct shelter intakes and orientation for new clients.
- Maintain cleanliness of rooms, manage client belongings for safety.
- Assist clients in accessing public transport and community resources.
- Develop safety plans for client travel and technology usage.
- Supervise client activities in the shelter, attending to calls and visitors.
- Support childcare when necessary.
- Manage shelter security systems and conduct regular drills.
- Keep daily logs of fund distribution and client engagement.
- Manage inventory of household supplies and groceries.
- Distribute essential items to clients.
- Organize events and activities for residents.
- Hold regular house meetings and workshops.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the supervisor.
- Preferably an Associate's Degree and/or one year of relevant work experience in victim support or human services.
- Prior experience in residential or shelter settings is advantageous.
- Flexible to work holidays and provide support coverage as needed.
- Available to work from alternate locations in emergencies.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Capable of using agency vehicles for client transport.
- Proficient in email, computers, and fax machines.
- Able to lift and move objects.

Job DescriptionAgency Overview: The Safe Center LI, Inc. (TSCLI) is a primary provider of services to victims of interpersonal violence in Nassau County. The organization delivers comprehensive support to victims and survivors of various forms of abuse. The Safe Center is at the forefront of developing and implementing innovative strategies to address the complex needs of those affected.Program Description: The Safe Home serves as a discreet emergency shelter for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, offering a secure environment. It is a 17-bed facility that caters to both adults and children. Reporting to the Director of the Safe Home, the advocate plays a crucial role in providing advocacy, support, life skills, and transportation services to residents. Additionally, they handle calls on the agency's 24-hour hotline related to different forms of abuse.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday 4pm- 12am
Salary: $38,000 annually, with potential $5,000 extra for bilingual skills and $1,000 for weekend shifts.
