    SUMMARY
    In compliance with all federal, state and local laws, by-laws, and Bourbonnais Elementary School District No.

    53 policies and philosophies, the school psychologist will assist in the development of an educational climate conducive to the intellectual, academic, emotional, and behavioral development of the students of the District.

    Emphasis shall be placed on prevention, as well as, rehabilitation, or indirect, as well as, direct services.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Maintains case records on all referred students in accordance with Bourbonnais procedures and rules and regulations of special education.

    Consults on educational needs of special students and make recommendations for instructional program.
    Cooperates with personnel of community agencies, when necessary, to meet the needs of student.
    Attends professional and interagency meetings.
    Assists with interview training of school personnel, when requested.
    Provides supervision to psychologist intern.
    Maintains open communication with the administration.
    Develops his/her own professional growth through reading, workshops, inservices, conferences and/or advanced coursework.
    Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
    Displays loyalty to District No. 53, the School Board and its governance, policies and contracts.
    Supports the Mission and Vision of the District.
    Maintains a professional appearance.
    Maintains a professional and positive rapport with parents/co-workers/administration/School Board.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Supervises students, interns when assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Master's degree or higher in psychology or educational psychology.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    Appropriate Illinois Certification (Type 73).
    Successful completion of required internship (field placement) under supervision of a certified school psychologist.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
    technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, individualized education plans, and general correspondence.

    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administration, parents, regular education teachers, and other special education professionals.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITY
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

    Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly will sit, walk and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
