    Under the general supervision of the Director of Acute Care, is responsible for performing various duties and tasks as requested under the LNA scope of practice as determined by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing.

    Responsibilities

    1 Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse assists with patient care activities, activities of daily living, hygiene, feeding, and patient safety initiatives. Promptly reports any observed changes in patient's condition to nurse or physician

    2 Performs and documents vital signs, height, weight, intake, and output and reports any changes out of range of normal, performs 12 lead EKGs

    3 Obtains laboratory specimens as appropriate, ie, finger stick glucose testing, urine specimens and transports to lab as necessary

    4 Within scope of practice, assists nurse/physician with clinical procedures and treatments

    5 Carries out roles assigned as part of the healthcare team during emergencies or resuscitation efforts (CPR, runner, order entry, documentation, etc.)

    6 Answers phone professionally with courtesy to caller, relays messages accurately and timely. Contacts other departments and agencies via phone, as requested

    7 Cross trained to perform medial unit clerical duties; computer charting, inputting orders, filing of patient charts

    8 Performs safe transportation of patients within the facility utilizing safe lifting and transport

    9 Performs post-mortem care and aids in the transportation of the body to the morgue

    10 Demonstrates safe, competent use of patient care equipment, beds, stretchers, lifts, safety and alarm devices, walkers, and other equipment approved for patient care

    Qualifications

    NH LNA License

    BLS

    1 year experience as an LNA preferred, experience in a hospital acute care setting preferred. Computer literate, experience with electronic health records preferred
