    GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking an Environmental Manager to manage, lead, develop, and execute our NEPA program for various infrastructure/energy/governmental projects. The successful candidate's primary work responsibilities will be leading and managing various aspects of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) projects, including proposal development, business development, project team leadership, compliance with environmental regulations, data analysis, document preparation, and public involvement activities. The Environmental Manager will also be responsible for managing budgets and invoicing, quality control reviews, and client management. This position requires a strong skillset and ability to mentor and manage staff, communicate effectively, and work in a collaborative team atmosphere to ensure successful and on-schedule project delivery.

    This position will be in GAI's Charleston, WV office location, and/or remote locations will also be considered.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead NEPA Program Business Development and Lead NEPA Project Teams.
    • Develop and train additional NEPA Program Team members.
    • Review project requirements and implement the project steps to be in compliance with environmental regulations under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
    • Collect and analyze social, economic, and environmental data to be used in analyzing project impact and recommendations.
    • Prepare NEPA documents, including Categorical Exclusions (CEs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs).
    • Prepare reports and regulatory permits and approvals in compliance with environmental laws.
    • Develops and implements a business development plan.
    • Leads, creates, and implements public involvement activities, including developing public involvement plans, creating materials for communicating project information to the public, and participating in public and stakeholder meetings.
    • Business Development activities and sales.
    • Preparation of proposals.
    • Strong technical writing ability.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Must be able to travel.
      • Travel will predominately be regional day trips, however overnight stays will at times be necessary.
      • Travel is likely to occur monthly and include client visits, project site visits, and meeting attendance.
      • Travel will occur throughout the year up to 20% but can vary based on client and project needs.
    • Manage implementation of compliance with safety protocols and procedures.

    Qualifications:

    • BS in engineering, planning, science, geology, or related field. Will consider experience without a degree.
    • 10+ years of managing projects and teams related to all aspects of NEPA projects, including proposal and report writing and project implementation.
    • DOT experience preferred.
    • Established knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and guidelines

    Qualifications


    Education Bachelors of Engineering (required)
    Experience 10 years: Managing projects and teams related to all aspects of NEPA projects, including proposal and report writing and project implementation. (required)
    Licenses & Certifications Driver's License (required)
    Professional Engineer (preferred)
