    Job Description Job Description Job DescriptionMedical Director/PhysicianReports To : Chief Medical OfficerStatus: Full-Time Regular, ExemptPosition Summary : Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Director provides general medical services to patients.

    Supervises the operations of the Medical department at that site and maintains medical policies and standards.

    Supervises and evaluates the performance of the medical staff and participates as a member of the clinics management team in planning, organizing and evaluating services.

    The IHC is a Patient Centered Health Home & all employees are an integral part of this model of care delivery.


    Duties & Responsibilities:


    Medical Director DutiesOversees and manages Medical Department staff in providing high quality servicesHires, trains, supervises, disciplines, and evaluates Medical Department administrative staffConducts record reviews and other Quality Improvement activities, and acts as leader of the Quality Improvement program for the Medical DepartmentEnsures that Nurse Practitioner /Physician Assistant staff are supervisedDevelops and directs the provision of health education to patients and to the communityEnsures that patient satisfaction with Medical Department services is highDirects oversight of, clinic manager, front office (reception, medical records, eligibility, referral, AI/AN patient relations) and back office (Medical Assistant) staff, policies, and proceduresParticipate as a proactive representative of the Patient Centered Health HomePerform duties utilizing the Team-Based ApproachAttend Director, CHP, meetings and other meetings pertaining to Health Care Delivery at the discretion of the CMO.

    Participate and assist in practice transformation for Payment ReformPhysician DutiesProvides general medical services to patients of all ages as appropriate for specialty and licensureProvides emergency services when appropriateMakes referrals to appropriate sub-specialists for specialized examination, diagnosis, and treatmentCoordinates with other departments to insure adequate follow up and continuity of careWorks with other clinic health professionals in providing comprehensive high quality care to patientsParticipates as a member of the agencys management team in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the medical clinic operationProvides or coordinates in-service training for staffReviews and updates the Medical Policy and Procedures Manual on an ongoing basis, and approves all protocols used by the Medical DepartmentCompletes or supervises the completion of required reportsEnsures high patient satisfaction for clients who use the Medical DepartmentActs for the Corporation in grievance issuesPerforms other duties as needed or assignedRequired Qualifications, Knowledge & Abilities:Possession of a Medical Doctor degree from an accredited college or universityPossession of California Medical License in good standingBoard certified in Family PracticeTwo years of clinical experience, preferably in a community clinic settingTwo years of Supervisory/Leadership experience in a clinical setting preferredExperience in Quality Improvement processes and policy developmentKnowledge of sound medical techniques and ability to adapt them to be culturally appropriateAbility to maintain#J-18808-Ljbffr
