- Collaborating closely with attorneys, colleagues, and clients to efficiently file and prosecute patent applications across various jurisdictions, including US, PCT, and foreign applications.
- Educating clients and team members on diverse prosecution needs, such as updates on country-specific laws, pilot programs, and foreign filing strategies.
- Handling the preparation and filing of US patent prosecution documents, encompassing a wide range of tasks from initial application filings to responses to office actions and appeals.
- Managing the prosecution of PCT applications, including thorough review and response to all incoming documents from relevant patent offices.
- Coordinating the filing process for foreign direct national and national phase patent applications, maintaining constant correspondence with foreign counsel, and ensuring compliance with international IP laws.
- Effectively managing patent docket deadlines, overseeing outsourced docketing functions, and maintaining updated information on patent applications.
- Generating comprehensive docket reports and facilitating discussions with clients and colleagues regarding deadlines and requirements on both domestic and global scales.
- Facilitating smooth communication between inventors, clients, and foreign counsel to ensure seamless progression of patent matters.
- Undertaking administrative responsibilities such as file management, document organization, and maintenance of records, both electronic and physical.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Patent Paralegal, ideally within a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Proficiency in USPTO and PCT filings, along with a solid understanding of common international rules and procedures.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with patent database software and document management systems; experience with Foundation IP docket management software is advantageous.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail, including adeptness at prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Preference for candidates holding a Paralegal certificate or Bachelor's degree.
