Summary
Why it's a great opportunity: In this role with Pierce County's Maintenance Operations Division, you will be performing asset services for both internal and external customers and doing field-based data collection for infrastructure asset management. You will be leading inspectors to apply asset assessment skills, and be responsible for processing data, GIS editing and mapping implementation, and operation of computerized maintenance management systems to identify, track, update, and audit the divisions large portfolio of assets. Your efforts will ensure that the current and future state of asset data for the Division is accurately maintained to support and develop Pierce County communities.

How to be successful in the role: In this role you will use your technical know-how to support asset data maintenance using technologies for data collection, basic operation of computerized maintenance management systems, drone inspection methods, and GIS applications. You will need to be able to learn and understand maintenance operations, schedules, equipment, maintenance, and best practices. Your communication in plans, reports, data sheets, as well as with your team will be critical to the planning and maintenance programs of our maintenance operations assets.

Core daily responsibilities:
- Produce information, reports, graphs, project lists, maps, and other information.
- Make recommendations to decision makers to be used in resource allocation decisions made to manage infrastructure assets.
- Write technical reports, operational guidelines, or documents to support a job function and record information for future use.
- Provide technical information and explain policies and procedures to the public, other staff or groups in person, on the telephone or in writing.
- Organize and analyze data and perform difficult calculations and mapmaking to support a major asset management function in the department.
- Conduct on-site inspections to gather data or to assure the quality of asset condition and inventory data being collected by lower-level technical positions; prepare inspection reports.
- Prepare and/or review routine data collection plans for conformance to pre-established Pierce County standards, methods, and procedures.
- Operate geographic information systems, computerized maintenance management systems and other data base interface tools, asset management systems, reporting tools, modeling programs, and project management systems as required to complete assigned tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
- A resume and cover letter are required for this position.
- Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education.
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, geography or closely related field AND
- Two years of progressively responsible experience, INCLUDING
- One year as an Asset Management Specialist 2 or equivalent classification.
- A valid driver's license is required of the position.
