    Part-time Circulation Associate - EVPL Central

    Hours:Part-time 20 hours

    Starting Pay: $15.00

    Part-time benefits include: paid holidays, sick leave, and access to on-site wellness clinic

    Must be available to work all public service hours; which includes weekends and occasional Sundays at EVPL Central

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Circulation Associate provides in person and telephone assistance to current and potential library patrons. The Circulation Associate explains library policies, circulates library materials, and issues library cards using the integrated library system, assists with library technology or patron questions, and shelves materials.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    In cooperation with the Circulation Services Manager and other colleagues, the Circulation Associate will advance the library's mission, vision, strategic priorities, and brand.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Efficiently work the circulation desk - processing materials, collecting fees and addressing issues.
    • Professionally verify patron information before checking library materials in/out, explains privileges for holding a library card, and issues library cards to patrons.
    • Assist patrons with library technology and understanding policies, programs, and services offered by the library.
    • Participate in weeding and organizing materials, addressing missing item parts returned by patrons.
    • Competently collect and record monies received.
    • Sort, shift, shelve and weed library materials; monitor the condition of the shelves.
    • Participates in special projects, or other duties, as assigned.
    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Basic:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • 1+ years' experience working in direct customer service.
    • Must have reliable and timely transportation to and from work.
    Preferred:
    • 1+ years' experience in a public library setting.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Google Suite products.
    • A continuous learner with a welcoming attitude, a collaborative work ethic, and a desire to go above and beyond to serve our diverse community.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work requires preparing or analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines, and observing general surroundings and activities. Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
