    Under the direction of the Manager of Decision Support, the Cost Accountant Analyst will support all cost accounting functions of the Valleywise Health Finance Department, including but not limited to the development and maintenance of statistical information used for inclusion in the cost accounting system, cost allocations of overhead, shared services and other direct costs applicable to multiple hospital departments, schedules identifying hospital square footage and available bed count by the department.

    Will create queries and write reports from various datasets and databases to assist in overall department financial analysis, cost reports, specific audit requests, survey preparation and other informational requests.

    Will participate in special projects and will assist in preparing financial and other cost accounting data and reports as necessary.

    Qualifications:

    Education:
    Requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance

    or


    an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.


    Experience:


    Requires a minimum of two (2) years of recent accounting, finance, or Medicare or Medicaid related healthcare reimbursement experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Must be familiar with and be able to interpret financial schedules and reports.


    Must have the ability to work with and develop complex spreadsheets and work with computer systems for data extraction and analysis.

    Must have a working knowledge of database reporting, query tools, and relational database systems.

    Must possess excellent computer and Microsoft Office skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, advanced mathematical skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.

    Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.

    Must possess good customer service and communications skills, the ability to work with professionals, and maintain confidentiality standards.

    Must have a thorough general and cost accounting knowledge, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
