    Position Description

    The Sonoma Country Day School seeks an experienced, dynamic, student-centered middle school math teacher for the school year. The candidate will be skilled in developing students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills and will employ various instructional strategies to ensure that all students are challenged to progress toward mastery of complex concepts. The ideal candidate will have strong math teaching pedagogy and content knowledge. The candidate will put students' needs at the center of decision-making, be a self-reflective educator who models a growth mindset, and be an inspiration to and collaborator with a high-performing faculty. The role entails teaching pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry concepts through an integrated curriculum at the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels. This position will be part of a thriving and dynamic middle school math team that currently consists of three outstanding educators, making for a collaborative and fun team approach.

    With social-emotional learning as an integral part of middle school, teachers serve as advisors to a group of 9-12 students, building positive relationships and a sense of belonging. Learning at Sonoma Country Day School is not confined to the classroom. The school's outdoor education programs, student-generated activities, and athletic offerings are hallmarks of every student's Middle School experience.     Salary, Benefits, and Expectations

    This position offers a competitive salary of $65k to $110k, depending on experience, and includes benefits. Hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a weekly faculty meeting until 4:30, and team planning meetings may require additional time. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required throughout the school year.

    Desired Qualifications

    Applicants should have experience working with secondary school-aged students and hold a B.A./B.S. An advanced degree in math education or a related field is preferable. Strong interpersonal skills, good humor, and flexibility are essential.
