SECURITY ASSESSOR - MID-LEVEL

MILITARY FRIENDLY & PREFERRED - HOH SPONSOR

As a Mid Security Control Assessor, your main focus will be on designing, developing, engineering, and implementing solutions. You'll be diving deep into risk analyses and ensuring security requirements are met based on various factors. Your role will involve supporting customers in doctrine and policy development at high levels. An opportunity to work on government and commercial systems, along with specialized systems requiring unique security features. Get ready to analyze, design, and develop security features for system architectures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assess security controls according to DHS Compliance guidelines.
Create various documentation related to security assessments and plans.
Gather evidence for Authorization to Operate (ATO) efforts.
Review and provide recommendations on system upgrades.
Suggest improvements to existing RMF processes and procedures.
Deliver Weekly Status Reports that meet all requirements.
Prepare and present information captured in reports to management.
Analyze IT specifications for security risks and implement safety measures.
Inspect systems for vulnerabilities and monitor network activities.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of NIST Guidelines, FISMA requirements, and IT systems.
Experience with cybersecurity tools like Archer, Nessus Security Center, Splunk, etc.
Effective communication skills with various levels of customers.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience as a Computer Security Specialist.
Familiarity with security frameworks and risk management.
Skills in patch management, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Understanding of public key infrastructure and cryptographic protocols.
Strong problem-solving and organization skills.
Decision-making abilities.

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred or relevant professional experience.

Minimum 4-7+ years of IT Cybersecurity experience.
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or engineering with 7 years of IT experience.

Certifications and Training (Required): At least one of the following security certifications:

Certified Authorization Professional (CAP)
Certified Information Systems Security Officer (CISSO)
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

Clearance level:

Must have a Secret Level Security Clearance.

Work Location: Remote position with locations in Springfield, VA, Annapolis Junction, MD, and Herndon, VA.

Business Hours: 8:00 am EST - 4:30 pm EST.
