- Conduct thorough legal research and prepare necessary motions before court hearings
- Maintain professional and respectful relationships with clients
- Arrive punctually and appropriately dressed to work and court
- Engage in regular goal-setting and performance evaluations
- Stay updated on legal changes through continuous training
- High energy and enthusiasm for delivering top-notch client service
- Experience in drafting and presenting motions, including post-conviction motions
- Minimum of 10 felony jury trials and preliminary hearings
- J.D. and active status with the State Bar of California
- Willingness to travel within Alameda County and the surrounding Bay Area
- Familiarity with online case management systems

Criminal Defense Associate (6+ Years Felony Experience Necessary)
The Nieves Law Firm is dedicated to building strong relationships with its clients. We are a supportive team focused on removing the negative stereotypes around criminal defense. Our goal is to give every defendant the chance to rebuild their reputation and plan for a better future. We are currently in search of a full-time Senior Attorney with a minimum of 6 years of experience in criminal defense. It's essential that the candidate's background is specifically in criminal defense - experience in other legal areas will not meet the requirements.
We are looking for applicants with a solid background in felony cases, including writing motions, participating in preliminary hearings, and handling felony trials. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver exceptional work and show a strong commitment to advocating for their clients passionately. Enthusiasm and success are key qualities we value.
Compensation and benefits for this role include a base salary along with health/dental/vision plan contributions, 401K, mileage reimbursement, access to a company car, bar dues coverage, malpractice insurance, parking, student loan assistance, and additional bonuses.
California Bar admission and the ability to represent clients in the Bay Area courts are mandatory for this position.
Candidates with proficiency in a second language are strongly encouraged to apply.
