    Description
    Reports to: Business Manager / School Business Administrator

    Qualifications:
    1. Valid NJ CDL with "P" and "S" endorsements
    2. Experience in school or school busing contractor setting preferred
    3. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both orally and through written expression
    4. Must complete required medical review and immunizations. Must be able to pass DOT mandated physical exam, pre-employment drug and alcohol tests, randomly administered drug and alcohol tests.
    5. Must pass required criminal history background check
    6. Provide proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident status
    7. Possess basic technological skills as required by position
    8. Knowledge of school bus pre and post trip requirements preferred.

    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Responsible for the safety and well-being of students
    2. Uphold and enforce school rules, Board policies, and federal and state law
    3. Communicate professionally within the school community
    4. Follows directions and seeks clarification from the school transportation office
    5. Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
    6. Maintain safety precautions when students are boarding and departing the bus. Drive with the safety of students as first priority. Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather.
    7. Maintains order on vehicles transporting students. This may include students with learning, physical, or emotional disabilities.
    8. Conduct pre-trip and post trip inspections of the school bus. Report bus defects to the school transportation office.
    9. Ensures safety of all students by having students remain in seats while vehicle is in transit. Maintain appropriate student management and report student incidents to the transportation office.
    10. Maintain school vehicles and perform bus housekeeping duties as needed.
    11. Establishes rapport and maintains respectful relationships with students
    12. Demonstrates ability to communicate with and respond to students' families as appropriate
    13. Demonstrates ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues
    14. Presents a professional appearance
    15. Maintains regular attendance so as to ensure continuity of instruction and/or operation of school district
    16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or his/her designees
    Environmental Demands:
    1. Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions
    2. Exposure to both heated/air conditioned and non-climate controlled environments
    3. Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, instruction, and/or operation of equipment
    4. Potential exposure to a variety of childhood and adult illnesses
    5. Exposure to a workplace that is usually quiet, but can be noisy at times
    Terms of Employment: Hourly

    Salary: $25 per hour

    Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law and the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation
