    POSITION SUMMARY:

    To be fully engaged in providing services supporting Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience and Stewardship goals by demonstrating leadership through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care according to the standards of professional nursing practice.

    Nursing care is provided to the individual patient based upon diverse patient demographics and needs.

    Primary Accountabilities


    Quality/No Harm:

    • Appropriate delegation and supervision of patient care activities within the healthcare setting.
    • Effective communication with other members of the healthcare team to promote a collaborative environment of care.
    • Coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care based on current evidence based practice.
    • Documents all nursing care, change in condition, response to therapy, treatments, procedures and referrals on patient record to met standards.
    • Demonstrates dependability, reliability and flexibility.
    • Provides patient, family and/or caregiver education as directed by the plan of care.
    • Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural, and individual needs.

    Customer Experience:

    • Helps to facilitate patient / family engagement in self-care through education and teach back as directed by the plan of care.
    • Provides care to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, preferences, age, cultural and individual differences.
    • Demonstrates consistency and adoption of Health First Connections service standards.
    • Contributes to the customer experience goals as evidenced by positive patient experience scores and comments for department/medical center and/or written compliments by patients/others.
    • Consistently and effectively demonstrates compliance with department service standards such as purposeful hourly rounding, bedside shift report and white board management to enhance communication.
    • Actively seek out feedback and performance coaching to improve the experience for patients and families.

    Stewardship:

    • Demonstrates personal accountability to use and care for equipment and supplies economically.
    • Demonstrates basic understanding of LEAN principles and may engage in activity to reduce waste or improve processes.
    • Demonstrates the basic understanding and application of staffing effectiveness principles and optimization of resources to meet dynamic patient care needs real time.
    • Contributes to unit productivity in favorable way by demonstrating good planning, organization and time management (e.g. incremental overtime).
    • Identifies ways to appropriately reduce length of stay and prevent readmission.
    • Adds positively to creating and sustaining a healthy work environment and staff retention.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    Education:

    • Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
    • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required.
    • BSN highly preferred.

    Licensure:
    Current Florida RN licensure or endorsement.


    Certification:

    • Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
    • Current AHA ACLS required.
    • Current NRP required.
    Experience: 1 year Level III NICU RN experience preferred.

    Language:
    Must be able to speak / understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.
