- Onboarding & Offboarding Support:
- Develop and enhance onboarding and offboarding processes to provide a seamless experience for new and departing employees.
- Recruitment Assistance:
- Assist department managers in the hiring process, including job postings, interview scheduling, background checks, and offer letters.
- Policy & Compliance Management:
- Collaborate on updating company policies, employee handbooks, and job descriptions to enhance employee communication and engagement.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and local employment laws and practices, ensuring compliance with regulations such as Davis-Bacon, Prevailing Wage, and Certified Payroll requirements.
- Payroll & Benefits Administration:
- Process bi-weekly salary payroll and provide support for hourly union payrolls.
- Manage multi-state payroll tax filings and oversee onsite benefits administration responsibilities.
- Employee Engagement:
- Plan and organize employee engagement events to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Training & Development:
- Source and schedule employee training sessions on HR-related topics.
- Performance Management & Employee Relations:
- Assist in employee performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, terminations, and exit interviews, maintaining necessary documentation.
- Compliance Initiatives:
- Partner with accounting and administration on broader compliance initiatives related to customers, vendors, contracts, and project execution.
- Systems Implementation:
- Assist in implementing or expanding the use of ERP, payroll, and HRIS software as needed.
- Minimum of two years of multi-state payroll processing experience, preferably in a union environment.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in human resources or relevant HR experience/certification.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and HR concepts.
- Understanding of construction or service organization business methods preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate Excel and Word skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with integrity.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and math skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Comfortable with computer use and literacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands regularly.
- Vision abilities for close vision and adjusting focus.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required.
- Ability to work in a cubicle environment with moderate noise levels.
