    This position supports the Behavioral Health Service Line within UPMC Western Behavioral Health. The Clinical Educator WPIC is based at Western Psychiatric Hospital and travels within the UPMC behavioral health network facilities for purposes of aligning and standardizing clinical education across PA, NY, and MD. The Clinical Educator is a master's level professional, having the authority, responsibility, and accountability for delivery of clinical education, data tracking and special projects. The Clinical Educator WPIC must demonstrate the knowledge and educational skills necessary to assess, plan and provide the educational programs and lead implementation of clinical educational activities related to behavioral and addiction services, identifying needs for educational programs for addiction and mental health professionals and teams utilizing evidenced-based training curricula for varying age groups and populations. This position works directly with the WPH service line leadership team in carrying out the duties related to a broad range of clinical educational efforts aimed at care process standardization, safety, and quality improvement.

    The UPMC Behavioral Health Inpatient Service Line provides an infrastructure for sharing management expertise and best practices, coordination of care, and improvement of patient and staff experience that focuses on safety and quality with standardization for behavioral health inpatient services across the UPMC in PA, NY, and MD.

    Responsibilities:

    · Work with the Addiction Medicine, WPIC leadership in carrying out the duties and mandates related to a broad range of prevention activities.

    · Participate in and coordinate addiction related coalitions and conferences for the region and the state.

    · Coordinate and implement special requests from contractors and regulatory entities as they pertain to ATOD prevention services.

    · Plan, coordinate, and implement addiction-related education and prevention programs as determined by community needs, school system requirements and directives from local, regional, and state regulatory bodies.

    · Provide training and consultation to Allegheny County School Districts and other provider agencies in the implementation of the PA Department of Education Student Assistance Program.

    · Provide evidence-based prevention programs throughout Allegheny County for professional, business, faith, and community organizations in diverse geographic neighborhood with varying age groups and populations.

    · Participating in leadership meetings and service committees as assigned by supervisor.

    · Performance in accordance with system-wide competencies and the UPMC experience and core behavior initiatives.

    · Serving as chair or co-chair for service line committees and councils.

    · Participating in department-based performance improvement projects.

    · Demonstrating a high level of initiative, ability to work independently and prioritize to meet department and organizational goals.

    · Ability to lead special hospital-projects as part of leadership initiatives and meet timelines.

    · Demonstrate appropriate and effective communication strategies.

    · Demonstrate proficiency with use of Microsoft applications and platforms.

    · Master's level professional with a degree in the education and/or human service field required.

    · Three years of experience in teaching, treatment or related prevention field required.

    · Knowledge of federal and state addiction prevention programs is preferred.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    · Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire

    · Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) within 30 days of hire

    · Act 34 with renewal within 30 days of hire

    · Act 73 within 30 days of hire

    · Act 33 within 30 days of hire
