    Given the integrated nature of Community Support Services work, the Positive Support or Behavioral Health Consultant demonstrates expertise in behavioral assessment and interventions and with consultation as needed from colleagues with complementary expertise. As a bridge connecting providers together in the best interest of the individual, the Positive Support or Behavioral Health Consultant integrates multidisciplinary expertise to facilitate positive outcomes for focus individuals and their support networks. In each of these interactions, the Positive Support or Behavioral Health Consultant strongly impacts the quality of focus individuals' lives and successful community living.     Primary Responsibilities Include:

    • Completing clinical assessments for individuals with complex behavioral health challenges to identify appropriate community supports for them and their support networks.

    • Providing support and/or crisis prevention and response plans to clients and their supports.

    • Serving as a resource, liaison and technical assistant to coordinate care amongst individuals served, their families, providers and other stakeholders.

    • Identifying training needs, developing and presenting training to enhance the community's capacity to support individuals with complex behavioral health challenges in the least restrictive community settings.

    • Safeguarding clients' human rights through the use of Positive Behavior Support methods which are the least restrictive and intrusive practices appropriate for the situation.

    • Participating as a Community Support Services team both locally and statewide.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Clinical Program Therapist 3

    Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or behavior analysis; eligible candidates also may have a bachelor's degree in human services or a related behavioral health field and must have completed substantial behavioral health coursework such as: individual or group counseling, clinical interviewing, clinical assessment, crisis intervention, or similar behavioral health courses.

    AND

    Three years of post-bachelor's degree experience providing behavioral health clinical services including at least 4 of the 6 activities listed below:
    • Delivering individual or group therapy, psychoeducation, and interventions
    • Providing case coordination among multidisciplinary team members
    • Conducting comprehensive assessments
    • Leading development of treatment/support plans as required by program licensure
    • Planning discharge/transition and/or aftercare
    • Providing behavioral health diagnosis
    OR

    Master's degree in one of the above degree programs or marriage and family therapy or other counseling field

    AND

    One year of post-master's degree experience as described above

    OR

    Doctorate in one of the above degree programs (PhD, PsyD, EdD, or DSW)

    Clinical Program Therapist 4

    Licensure/Certification (required) as an independent behavioral health professional (i.e., Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Licensed Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

    Master's or doctorate in psychology, social work, behavior analysis, or related field; AND

    Three years of post-graduate degree experience providing clinical services,

    OR

    Degree: Doctorate (PhD, PsyD, or DSW)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Have a Master's degree in behavior analysis, psychology, social work, counseling or related behavioral or social science program.

    • Experience providing direct support services.

    • Experience working with and being part of an interdisciplinary team.

    • Creative presentation skills and public speaking skills to effectively train adult learners.

    • Knowledge of the social service funding, case management, and rules/laws governing services to persons with developmental or intellectual disabilities, mental illnesses, brain injury, and/or substance use disorders.

    • Working knowledge of licensing requirements and billing processes related to Home and Community-Based Services waivered services.

    • Familiarity with behavioral health and disability services and support resources.
