    Location: Remote US only (must be willing to work Eastern or Central Time Zone hours)

    Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

    Experience:5+ years of quantitative and qualitative UX research in a professional setting (not academic). Mixed methods experience with a heavy lean towards quantitative research. Quantitative research wed be looking for includes web analytics, usability benchmarking, A/B testing, desirability studies (Eyetracking, surveys not relevant for this position).

    BusPatrol is seeking a Senior UX Researcher who will report to the Manager of Product Design. Theyll join a newly formed product team and have the aptitude to set the tone for taking abstract problems and translating them into better user experiences. A successful candidate understands and can apply research techniques, analyze quantitative and qualitative data, and turn research into actionable insights. In addition to presenting formal readouts, they share a curious mindset and are comfortable working with our cross-functional teams. This role will focus more heavily on quantitative research but will be expected to do some qualitative research as well as teach/educate/train others on qualitative research on a continuous basis.

    We are looking for a confident, self-directed individual who has the initiative to figure out solutions when the team doesnt have one. You counsel product, development, and business stakeholders on research strategy. You dont just react to requests; you know how to cut through the noise and get to the heart of what needs to be solved instead of chasing solutions. You understand the why behind the what, understand human behavior, what is the root problem to be solved for is and dont just dictate/assume a solution.

    Responsibilities:
    • Mixed research methods: The focus role is 60% quantitative vs 40% qualitative.
    • Be a quantitative research SME, but able to do some qualitative research as well as teach/educate/train others on qualitative research.
    • Plan and conduct user research activities (Moderated and unmoderated) including web analytics, A/B testing, usability benchmarking, interviews, usability testing, ethnography, task analysis, cognitive analysis.
    • Create user personas, journey maps, and other UX artifacts to effectively communicate user needs and behaviors to the product team.
    • Improve the teams understanding of users by gaining deep insights into user behaviors, needs, pain points, and problem space.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to define research objectives, develop research plans, and align research findings with product goals.
    • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify user patterns, preferences, and trends, using appropriate research methodologies.
    • Synthesize research findings into clear, actionable insights and present them to stakeholders, ensuring they are accessible and easily understandable.
    • Work closely with designers to evaluate and iterate on user interface designs, providing user-centered recommendations for optimizing usability and accessibility.
    • Collaborate with product managers to define and refine product requirements based on user insights, balancing business goals with user needs.
    • Advocate for a user-centered design approach throughout the organization, fostering a culture of empathy and continuous improvement. Proactively initiates research readouts, present progress, and communication.
    • Systems thinker: Show how work is connected to cross-functional teams, technology, and different touchpoints.
    Qualifications:
    • 5+ years in conducting user experience research in a professional setting.
    • Portfolio (must include at least one case study)
    • Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, as well as the capability of selecting the most appropriate methodology based on the research objectives. (includes web analytics, usability benchmarking, A/B testing, usability testing, ethnography with primary and secondary research, handling personas, journey mapping, conducting moderated and unmoderated studies)
    • 3+ years programming or statistical software experience using one of the following or similar: Python, MATLAB, R, SQL, Excel, Tableau, SPSS, SAS, User Testing, Userzoom, Dovetail
    • Must know usability testing platforms, survey tools, and analytics platforms
    • Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus.

    The US salary range for this position is provided in this posting. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     Minimum US Base Salary:
    USD $116,000.00/Yr.

    Maximum US Base Salary:
    USD $190,080.00/Yr.
