Job Summary
The Deputy Prosecutor I provides professional legal services which include prosecuting felony misdemeanor and/or juvenile cases making charging decisions negotiating case settlements and assisting the County Prosecutor with other legal and administrative work necessary to achieve the objectives of the officeResponsibilities
- Investigates prepares and manages felony misdemeanor and/or juvenile cases for trial including but not limited to reviewing charges and evidence conducting legal research interviewing affected parties preparing required legal and court documents preparing arguing briefs attending court proceedings
- Makes charging decisions following review evaluation of police reports other evidence consideration applicable law negotiates case settlements with opposing counsel advises consults with police officers detectives attorneys defendants victims witnesses interested affected parties represents County interest in court answers communications from public relative to legal matters affecting County performs all work duties activities accordance County policies procedures safety practices may be assigned on call after regular hours respond emergency situations or other duties assigned aid department completion objectives
