- Product Development: Lead the end-to-end process of developing new shredder products, from ideation to commercialization.
- Conceptualization and Design: Create innovative design concepts, considering efficiency, durability, cost-competitiveness and safety standards for shredding applications.
- Prototyping and Testing: Develop and oversee the fabrication of prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and iterate designs based on performance feedback.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the Product Manager, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Sales, to ensure alignment of product development with market needs and company objectives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all developed products comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Cost Management: Work closely with the finance and manufacturing teams to optimize product cost while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, customer needs, and competitive products to identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.
- Bachelors level degree in a related technical field and/ or Engineering. Advanced technical degree an advantage.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in engineering in a custom-engineered, heavy industrial equipment environment.
- Experience working with end-to-end material conveyance systems an asset.
- Proven track record of successfully bringing new products to market.
- Mechanical Design: Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks 3D preferred) with a strong background in mechanical design and engineering principles. Experienced in FEA required. Experienced in heavy industrial equipment, conveyance systems, hydraulics and electrical design.
- Materials Science: Knowledge of materials used in industrial machinery and the ability to select appropriate materials for optimal performance and durability.
- Prototyping and Testing: Experience in designing, building, and testing prototypes to validate and improve product concepts
- Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage timelines, and deliver projects on schedule.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and certifications related to industrial shredder equipment.
- Innovative Thinking: Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think innovatively to develop unique and market-leading solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders. Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
