    Description of the Position:

    MLC Actuarial has a rotational opening supporting the Marine segment for a student looking to develop their leadership, project management, and communication skills. This candidate has the opportunity to be the go-to thought partner for our business partners in the Product, UW, ERM, Finance, and Reserving areas. This position will closely partner with these areas to deliver profit and growth goals, and supports the delivery of key segment projects, providing analysis and offering book monitoring insights which accomplish business segment goals.

    Major responsibilities of this rotation include:
    • Provide actuarial opinions on profitability, including rate and price guidance, with an eye towards enhancement
    • Aid in enhancement of Marine benchmark pricing model
    • Own the Account Segmentation process and partner with UW/Product to ensure the execution of the segmentation strategy.
    • Aid in and/or lead the analysis, selections, and communications of our core Actuarial work as needed including Trend & LRP, Rate Filings, and Profitability Reporting.
    • Analytical/Technical: Leverage R/SQL skills to enhance the team's efficiency, and provide new insights into book performance.
    • Non-Actuarial: Bolster knowledge of Product Development, UW, Forms, Claims, and IT.
    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
