Communications Signal Processing Engineer Location:
Huntsville, AL Description: Seeking a motivated and ambitious Communications Signal Processing Engineer to join the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) Joint Technology Center - Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) Technology and Certification Center
This position will perform analysis and provide technical expertise in support of advanced signal processing algorithms, datalink vulnerability assessments, communications architecture design, Electronic Wafare, and Anti-Jam Technologies
Responsibilities and Requirements:
Research and develop advanced signal processing algorithms
Provide performance and vulnerability assessments for data link waveforms
Provide technical expertise to aid in product improvement and acquisitions
Perform analysis of advanced protected Anti-Jam / Low Probability of Detection waveforms
Required Skills:
General signal processing expertise in signal modeling, filter modeling, noise modeling, or Fourier transforms Communications waveform modulation theory (PSK, QAM, etc.)
Spread LPD waveforms (DSSS, FHSS, MCSS, hybrid methods, etc.) Signal detection theory (energy detection, feature detection, etc.) Cyclo-stationary feature analysis (cyclic autocorrelation, cepstral analysis, etc.) Basic MATLAB programming (cell arrays, structs, tables, graphics, MATLAB path, data import and export, etc.) Object Oriented MATLAB programming (methods, properties, and their attributes; value and handle classes; object arrays; etc.) Technical research experience (IEEE journals, etc.) and implementation of findings via algorithm development Strong knowledge of RF concepts (RF testing, RF propagation, RF schematics, link budgets, etc.)
Current Active Secret Security Clearance Experience with detection of communication signals
SATCOM and LOS communications
Forward error correction (FEC) techniques (LDPC, turbo codes, Reed-Solomon, etc.)
Networked or multi-access data links (CDMA/TDMA, MANET, hub/spoke, mesh, etc.) Common Data Links (CDL) and Digital Data Links (DDL) Digital RF memory (DRFM) Experience with Ant-Jam and EW threats (detectors/jammers) Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering or physics
