    Summary

    GVSU Athletics is recruiting an athletic trainer to join our collaborative team of healthcare providers in a newly created adjunct position beginning on July 29, 2024. This position is paid out over 12-months, but this staff member will only work full time for 9 months on a seasonal schedule that aligns with the Athletics competition calendar. As a member of the healthcare team, working under the direction of a physician and in accordance with Michigan Licensure, this individual is responsible for the safe and effective delivery of healthcare as it related to the BOC Professional Standards and the BOC Practice Domains and Tasks.

    Our team consists of 9 full-time clinical athletic trainers, a non-clinical athletics healthcare administrator, 5 primary team physicians including a physician medical director and physician surgical director, 4 sport performance coaches, a part-time physical therapist, and an administrative assistant. We provide the highest quality student-athlete centered health care, wellness, and performance development. We are committed to collaboration with campus and community stakeholders to enhance the availability of resources.

    This position includes BOC and NATA dues, professional licensure fee (if renewal occurs during contract), staff parking and recreation center membership. This is a salaried position working 40 hours per week for the duration of the contract.

    PRIMARY DUTIES

    Provide health care primarily to the men's and women's cross country/track and field teams, including acute injury care and rehabilitation. This individual will work with a variety of the varsity teams when coverage conflicts present themselves. Communication and collaboration with sport coaches and sport performance coaches. Home event coverage for assigned sports with possibility for travel. Performs other duties as required/assigned by supervisor.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Must be eligible for a Michigan Athletic Training License and hold a license by July 2024 start date
    SALARY

    $40,000 + benefits (medical, life insurance, tuition reduction and paid time off)

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Normal clinical environment. Some travel may be required.
