    Job Description Summary
    The Campus CenterAssistant (CCA) is responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of services and resources provided daily in the Campus Center at Rinker, with an emphasis on supporting the day-to-day customer service needs of all Campus Center visitors, staff, and building occupants. Along with professional staff and in collaboration with the entire Campus Center Staff Team, the CCAs strive to create a welcoming environment that will contribute to the University by building community, increasing students' pride in their university, and ensuring facility operations are organized and supportive of evolving student needs. All CCAs are members of the Department of Student Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs.

    Responsibilities
    Campus Center Assistant Staff Responsibilities
    • Provide excellent, proactive customer service to all guests including accurate information to telephone and in- person questions regarding Chapman University and our facilities
    • Complete active laps of the facility to provide visual security of the facilities and their furnishings/equipment; monitor and address potential safety/liability problems; report repair needs; maintain clean and organized shared facility spaces
    • Ensure all equipment and furnishings are working properly and that facilities are clean and tidy
    • Promote programs and services and provide support for activities and events taking place in the facility, ensuring all events are implemented in accordance with University policy
    • Post signs, daily schedules and other administrative tasks as required
    • Complete task list to-do's in the program management system as assigned by Lead Campus Center Assistants for the following functional areas: Building Operations, Community Engagement, Food Pantry, Marketing & Communications, and People Operations; communicate updates and mark tasks complete as necessary
    • Attend all scheduled Campus Center Staff meetings and departmental training sessions
    • Ensure appropriate use and return of Department of Student Engagement marketing materials
    • Provide feedback in creating, documenting, and revising CCR policies and procedures
    • Serve as a representative for the CCR at campus-wide involvement fairs and other sessions as determined by professional staff

    Other duties as assigned

    • Participate in and contribute to Department of Student Engagement programs, services, experiences, and resources as determined by supervisor.


    Required Qualifications
    • Ability to work 6-12 hours per week, during Campus Center operational hours, including some weekends
    • Commitment to teamwork, customer service, collaboration, and providing service to students
    • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and address customer needs
    • Ability to exercise initiative, work independently, and hold high standards of dependability and accountability
    • Excellent interpersonal skills working with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the University.
    • Ability to use tact and diplomacy and to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    • Strong time management skills, including punctuality to arrive to shifts on-time, and the ability to prioritize duties when faced with interruptions, distractions, and fluctuating workload.
    • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
    • Courteous and confident demeanor when delegating and holding others accountable.
    • Effective written and oral communication skills; strong editing and proofreading skills.
    • Possess attention to detail, the ability to accept direction, and willingness to work and learn from colleagues and supervisor
    • Ability to use standard office equipment including computer, copier, telephone
    • Ability to utilize and/or learn computer software programs for position-specific and team administrative functions
    • Ability to complete the ServeSafe Food Handling training program (provided through and paid for by the department)
    • Minimum of a cumulative 2.5 GPA


    Desired Qualifications
    • Previous experience working directly with student union facilities and/or student involvement programming
    • Familiarity with departments and organizations at Chapman
    • Event planning and execution experience
    • Familiarity with AV/Tech systems
    • Knowledge of User Experience (UX) concepts
    • Knowledge of or experience with campus policies and procedures
    • Desire to gain knowledge of student development theory and issues relevant to higher education.
    • Knowledge of topics related to student transitions, belonging, and needs in higher education.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Humanity, 25Live, Cascade
    • Ability to climb a ladder
    • Ability to lift objects of 45 lbs
