    BASIC FUNCTION (the primary purpose of this position):

    Facilitates high standards of hotel housekeeping service and guest satisfaction by scheduling, allocating assignments and directly overseeing staff engaged in cleaning hotel rooms and restocking rooms with supplies and guest amenities.

    PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Promote a clean, safe, healthy and friendly work environment for employees and guests; report and direct safety issues to Safety Committee.
    • Helps Housekeeping Supervisor to schedule and delegate daily work to the housekeeping staff if needed.
    • Assists in directing the workflow and oversees the daily operational issues.
    • Occasionally, responsible for opening the shift, which includes: Assigning room attendants, house people and lobby porters to hotel sections/floors and ensures cleanliness of hallways and all public areas.
    • Inspects and certifies the hotel standards in all rooms after cleaning.
    • Assist the Housekeeping Supervisor in monitoring housekeeping standards and procedures.
    • Reports on damage and rooms requiring maintenance or repairs, shampooing or deep cleaning.
    • Assists in ensuring that staff maintain organization and cleanliness of store rooms, and helps when needed.
    • Collaborates with the Housekeeping Supervisor on supply levels, ordering and requesting supplies.
    • Helps maintain the morale and effectiveness of the Housekeeping team by helping to stop gossip from spreading in the workplace when heard, or by passing the concerns along to management so appropriate actions can be taken.
    • Occasionally, responsible for closing the shift, which includes: Compiling the day's paperwork, returning keys, and scanning documents.
    • Resolves or refers to management all guest and employee; concerns, complaints or suggestions in order to provide superior service to the guests and employees.
    • When necessary, may be required to assist Room Attendants, House People, Lobby Porters, or Pool, if needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS (objective educational or technical training required; skills; and years of experience):

    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Hotel housekeeping training or previous experience required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT (the physical demands discribed here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.     Ability to work weekends, holidays and evening hours as business demands. While performing duties of this position, employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods, and frequently walk, and use hands to; finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to manage stress appropriately, make decisions under pressure, manages anger, fear, hostility and violence of guests appropriately.
