    Summary



    This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Coast Guard Academy, Facilities Engineering Branch, Public Works Section, New London, CT.

    Duties



    You would perform preventive maintenance work during rotating shifts. Responding to fire alarms, security alarms, and emergencies, such as electrical failures, water leaks, floods, equipment failure, etc.

    Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team


    Typical work assignments include:
    Cleaning such components as heat exchangers, lube oil coolers, evaporators, boiler tubes, etc.

    • Cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining the tools and equipment of the various trades.
    • Using a wide variety of equipment and tools such as power hacksaws, power band saws, grinding and drilling machines, etc.
    • Troubleshooting and installing some air conditioning systems; repair and maintenance of domestic heating equipment systems is also performed under supervision.
