    Job Summary

    The School of Education invites applications for a tenure track position for the Graduate Director of the Education Graduate Program. The position would be full-time teaching in the Education Graduate Program with no undergraduate teaching or supervision responsibilities.

    The Graduate Director oversees the following programs:
  • MEd in Teacher Leadership
  • MSEd in Special Education
  • Endorsements in Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language, Learning Behavior Specialist I, and Teacher Leadership
  • Graduate courses for the Master's in Communication and Speech Disorders
  • Elmhurst University graduate students are licensed teachers who are seeking to further their impact on PK-12 students and families. Therefore, Elmhurst University offers graduate programs to provide advanced teaching and leadership knowledge and skills as well as support the development of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies. Essential Functions
  • Direct graduate programs in Education, which includes staffing and scheduling courses, hiring adjunct faculty, and overseeing course materials, including final graduate theses
  • Teach graduate courses in the teacher leader endorsement program, including capstone seminars
  • Oversee endorsements earned through graduate coursework (e.g., Bilingual, ESL, LBS1, Teacher Leader)
  • Supervise the data collection and reporting of the State of Illinois assessments for the teacher leader degree and endorsement
  • Coordinate clinical experience hours as required for State of Illinois endorsements at the graduate level
  • Coordinate cooperating teacher and alumni vouchers for graduate courses
  • Represent the Education Graduate Program in the larger university-wide Graduate School
  • Provide support for graduate admissions and marketing for all Education graduate programs
  • Demonstrate teaching effectiveness, scholarship or creative work, and institutional service toward tenure
  • Participate in service within the department, university, community, state, and professional organizations
  • Foster collaborative partnerships with local schools and districts to coordinate cohorts
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities Performs other teaching-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in a field related to educational leadership including teacher leadership
  • Scholarship related to educational leadership
  • Demonstrated strong teaching skills at the university level contributing to graduate programs
  • Ability to teach graduate courses in educational leadership (e.g., school culture, action research, professional development, school-wide assessment, and collaboration)
  • Experience working in US public schools
  • Experience in supervising master's theses or doctoral work
  • Demonstrated experience and collaboration working with graduate students, teachers, administration, and faculty members
  • Preferred Qualifications ● Experience in a teacher leadership or principal preparation program● Participation in state, national, and international teacher leader initiatives and organizations● Knowledge of endorsements in Illinois: Teacher Leader, LBS1 and ESL/Bilingual Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
