    U.S. Citizenship is required.
    Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
    This position requires a Secret clearance.
    Be able to maintain a current/ valid State Driver's License.
    All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.     Education

    Undergraduate Education:
    Major study any field.

    Graduate Education:
    Major study law or other fields related to the position to be filled.
    OR

    Specialized Experience:
    GS- 1- You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the

    GS-11

    grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience. Your resume must demonstrate that you meet


    ALL

    the specialized experience below:
    Processing passports, visas, or country clearances; AND
    Providing technical guidance on passport and visa requirements; AND
    Interpreting and applying federal regulations governing overseas travel; AND
    Establishing interagency partnerships and professional relationships; OR
    Liaising with other organizations to resolve issues.
    National Service Experience (i.e.

    , volunteer experience):

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

    Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.

    If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

    Duties


    As a Passport Specialist, you will serve as manager of the USCG's Passport Application Acceptance Facility Program, with responsibility for analyzing and applying multi-agency policies and regulations, and for the world-wide management and execution of the Special Issuance Passport and Visa Program.

    Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team


    Typical work assignments include:
    Serving as the subject matter expert (SME) point of contact for all passports and visas agency wide.
    Receiving, examining, and adjudicating applications for the issuance, amendment, and replacement of passports.
    Managing and engaging in the daily execution of business processes and customer service functions to facilitate passport/visa issuance.
    Working closely with the Special Issuance Agency to facilitate the dissemination of official, diplomatic, and no-fee
    passports for all USCG members.
    Making recommendations for the improvement of procedures in order to ensure the most effective and efficient passport/visa program.
    Maintaining automated information systems used for the acceptance and processing of USCG passport and visa applications.

    Instructing the three-day resident initial certification Passport Application Acceptance Agent (PAM) training, in addition to the web-based annual recertification training and the annual distance Passport Facility Head of Facility training.

    Evaluating and revising USCG Passport Program directives and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
