    Description

    Department: Alexandria Clinic Nursing: Express Care

    Employment Status: Part Time, 64 hours per pay period

    Approximate Hours:

    • Four shifts per week: Day and Evening hours until 8:00pm
    • One weekend (Sat + Sun) every month: 8:45am - 3:00pm (4 week rotation)

    Job Description

    The role of a Licensed Practical Nurse/ Certified Medical Assistant at the Alexandria Clinic involves supporting Physicians/Providers in delivering individualized patient care in an outpatient clinical setting. Responsibilities include participating in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, adhering to established standards and policies. The primary focus is on handling a wide range of situations and duties as necessary in the care of patients under the delegation of a Registered Nurse or Physician/Provider.

    Nursing Service Delivery

    • Basic rooming of patients.
    • Assisting with patient preparation for procedures.
    • Adhering to quality initiatives and maintaining relevant knowledge.
    • Coordinating patient care efficiently and accurately.
    • Performing tasks as per provider orders and clinic schedules.
    • Obtaining prior authorization for medications.

    Alexandria Clinic Specific

    • Administering injections and immunizations.
    • Providing treatments.
    • Assisting in emergent situations with the use of crash carts and defibrillators.
    • Knowledge of instruments used for procedures.
    • Appropriate charge submission for services rendered.

    Communication

    • Effective and timely communication with patients and families.
    • Advocating for patients' care needs.
    • Thorough documentation of patient interactions.

    Specialty Practice

    • Employees in specialty areas will perform procedures specific to their specialty.

    Other Duties

    • Completion of additional assigned tasks.
    • Participation in meetings and training sessions.
    • Ability to operate relevant equipment proficiently.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position does not involve direct supervisory responsibilities.

    Education, Experience & Skills Required

    • Graduate of a Practical Nursing or Medical Assisting program.
    • Prior experience in a clinical health care setting preferred.
    • Proficiency in medical terminology, procedures, and techniques.
    • Strong customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
    • Proficient in MS Office; experience with Epic EMR preferred.

    License, Registration and/or Certification

    • Current MN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required.
