    Job Description

    Sunland Group is seeking an experienced Civil Land Development CAD Technician to join our team in Austin, Texas. Interested candidates will have strong technical skills to assist in creating, updating and maintaining engineering drawings, incorporating redlines and field markups into drawings, and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all data. The Civil CAD Tech will be proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • create base maps, drawings and designs for residential and commercial projects, including:
    • Drawing setup for preliminary and construction plan sets, including sheet layout, setup of both model space and paper space, and managing xrefs
    • Incorporate redlines provided by Project Manager and jurisdiction
    • Create preliminary and construction plan sets, including:
    • Preliminary plat plans
    • Horizontal control plans
    • Grading plans, surface grading and corridors, labeling Civil 3D
    • Erosion control plans
    • Drainage plans
    • Sewer plans, Pipe Network Tools
    • Water plans
    • Details and notes
    • Proposed and existing road profiles and sections
    • Profile existing and proposed utilities
    • Produce drawing packages for submittals
    • Sheet Set Manager
    • Manage detail libraries including creating, modifying and cataloging current and new company details
    • Jurisdictional research of standard plans, notes and details

    Skills and Specifications

    • Intermediate to high level working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D
    • Ability to perform civil engineering drafting such as site layout, grading, erosion control, road profiles, utility plans, etc. with direction of Project Managers and CAD Manager
    • Knowledge of municipal and state design standards and codes
    • Have the ability to take high quality notes and organize information

    • High-level proficiency in computer software program related activities
    • Self-motivated, hardworking, highly ethical, and dependable employee
    • Possess excellent rapport with management and co-workers, positive can-do attitude, excellent customer service, marketing and people skills
    • Have the ability to handle a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment
    • Detail-oriented, organized, multi-tasking and good follow-through skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
    • Excellent stress management and time management skills

    Education, Qualifications, Experience

    • Minimum 3+ years experience utilizing CAD
    • Minimum 2+ years experience in civil engineering field
    • Experience working with local municipalities is a plus
    • 3 years of experience in infrastructure and civil site development
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • This position is not eligible for remote work.
