Senior Software Engineer - New Orleans, United States - SuperMoney

    Default job background
    Description
    What is Cluey?
Cluey is building the tools to accelerate the conscious consumer movement.

We believe that information is power, and we are scaling a cross-product platform that makes impact data on corporate brands for everyday consumer goods more transparent.

Cluey's platform empowers consumers to make a greater impact with their everyday purchases on people, the planet, and politics.

In addition to collecting corporate brand impact data, we are also collecting data on our users' prefered alternative brands and values in order to help them align their purchases with their values and to power the feedback loop back to brands to improve their practices for good.

    The role you'll have

As our first full-time engineering hire, we are looking for someone who can grow with Cluey, taking on a critical leadership role for the technical direction of the company.

This will require someone who is just as much a target user of what we are building and shares a passion for corporate impact transparency as the rest of our founding team.

Someone who will not just ship code, but will dogfood the product to make it the best possible experience for our users.

    Responsibilities

Working seemlessly with our CEO (de-facto Product lead) and the rest of the business side (product marketing, data analytics, research, etc) to align commercial and technical objectives.

Writing clear, maintainable, scalable code across the web frontend, backend, infrastructure, and integration products.

Building upon and improving a flexible backend environment of relational databases to house data on hundreds of thousands of brands and users.

Creating and championing engineering best practices, including diligent issue tracking, incorporating analytics, comprehensive feature scoping, and smart trade-offs for short-term and long-term product success.

    Scaling the team overtime:
Interviewing, participating in hiring decisions, and onboarding new engineers.

    When applying...
Please include a short reply (less than 5 lines) sharing the following:

How you've experienced the problem of trying to buy brands aligned with your values as a consumer

How you navigate the need to make trade-offs in product development for short-term and long-term success

    Thank you for your time,

    Maryclaire
