    THE ROLE
    Reporting to the Service Manager, the Service Writer will serve as the main customer contact for external/commercial customers for intake of work and notification of job status or additional work needed, and approval for such. As the Service Writer, this team member is responsible for maintaining an inventory level necessary to operate an efficient shop,tracking all incoming and outgoing parts and supplies and assuring they are properly accounted for in TMT and charged to the appropriate RO and Invoice. This position will be responsible for closing ROs and Invoices and notifying customer of job progress and completion.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Management of owned and consigned inventory.
    • Issuance and control of purchase orders.
    • Ordering / receiving / accounting for parts and supplies and work invoicing of internal and external customers.
    • Customer service representative for external customers, including initial writing of customer complaint, initial estimate, and staying in contact with the customer through the job process.
    • Communicating job requirements to shop supervisor/foreman, andworking with shop for scheduling.
    • Verifying alllaborand parts are accounted for on ROs and Invoices, both commercial and internal.
    • Close work orders and invoice Customers when job is complete.
    • Account for all parts in and out of the parts room.
    • Source and purchase all parts.
    • Maintain company standard inventory levels for owned and consigned parts.
    • Prepare required inventory reports.
    • Utilize Shop Planner.
    SKILLS
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Proven track record of group leadership and commitment to quality and safety.
    • Knowledge of Trimac's operating standards, policies and procedures would be helpful.
    • Possess a thorough knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts and vehicle systems preferred.
    • Computer literate (Windows / MS Office) (TMT preferred).
    • Strong interpersonal & problem resolution skills
    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
    • Technical background, tractor or trailer maintenance or parts experience is not needed, as we are prepared to train.
    • Experience with computers, good keyboarding skills, and be familiar with Windows.
    • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated planning, organizing and prioritization skills.
