DSP Job Summary: JEC Miller, Inc. is looking to hire Evening, Weekend and Overnight Mental Health Workers to work in a direct care role providing in-the-moment supports to the child and their family to help them achieve their goals and maintain safety. The children we support have intellectual or developmental disabilities and are experiencing an increase in mental health or behavioral symptoms that require a staff that is comfortable responding to and redirecting physical aggression (which may include hitting, biting, scratching, etc), verbal and physical aggression, and property destruction. TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED

Requirements:

• 1 year of Direct Support Experience, required
• 1 year of in-home caregiving experience, preferred
• Education and/or experience with children with IDD and interfering behavior such as hitting, kicking, and biting
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to pass a background check
• Bachelor's Degree in psychology or related field, preferred
• Must be willing to work at homes throughout Dakota County, MN

Lakeville, Burnsville, Rosemount, Apple Valley

Duties & Responsibilities:

• The ideal Mental Health Worker will be comfortable helping children manage interfering behavior (physical and verbal aggression) and regulate their emotions.
• Mental Health Workers are responsible for helping the children with their daily living tasks. The children we work with vary in abilities, and staff are required to assist in tasks such as bathing and toileting as needed.
• The children we work with also require a staff member who is engaged and willing to participate in activities of the child's choice and is committed to helping them achieve their goals while enjoying their lives.
• Mental Health Workers are required to work with individuals both at the site and in their family home, depending on where the child and family are during the program.

• Saturday/Sunday 9am-3pm
