    PRIMARY FUNCTION:

    To coordinate and oversee behavior management, daily operations and student discipline

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serves as resource for school staff in implementing PBIS and Mandt to promote a positive behavior program and school climate.
    • Participates in and leads development of intervention strategies for the Behavior Team.
    • Coordinates, facilitates and implements disciplinary intervention steps, including PBIS, and processes with staff and students.
    • Work closely with Mandt instructors, model best practice Mandt procedures and lead post-restraint de-brief sessions with staff.
    • Serve as staff leader of the student council.
    • Attends and participates in various leadership team meetings and other building meetings as assigned.
    • Train and supervise behavior support staff, maintaining documentation of meetings and trainings.
    • Manage behavioral incentives as they relate to the Elk Hill Behavior Program and behavior intervention plans.
    • Supervise class transitions by maintaining a structured environment in the hallway.
    • Assist students who are unable to remain in class with reflective problem-solving and completing their academic assignments.
    • Manage the daily operations of the school in the absence of the Head of School.
    • Ensure all behavioral reports and documentation including student violations and SIRs are completed in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate a quality system of behavioral record-keeping and reporting for the educational program.
    • Investigate student complaints and grievances in a timely manner
    • Investigate, adjudicate, and monitor minor infractions of the school code in the form of progressive discipline such as detentions, classroom referrals, and in- school suspensions.
    • Re-enter students upon completion of out-of-school suspensions, facilitates student/teacher re-entry meetings, and provides peer mediation to resolve student conflicts.

    MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

    • Bachelor's Degree required; or high school diploma with extensive experience
    • Experience working with youth with a diagnosis of ED, LD, understanding of Special Education requirements and needs
    • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
    • Sense of Humor
    • Leadership abilities
