    **Position Summary:**

    The Medical Assistant will act as a liaison between the agency's psychiatric providers, clients, and various organizations within the community. They will support the psychiatric staff by utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology, completing prior authorizations, and handling medication-related telephone calls while maintaining an efficient and professional manner.

    This position functions within the outpatient mental health clinic.

    Major Responsibilities/Activities:

    • Complete Prior Authorizations: Ensure clients receive appropriate medications as determined by the psychiatric provider.
    • Review and Process Refill Requests: From various sources, such as clients, pharmacies.
    • Return Phone Calls from Pharmacies: Clarify questions regarding scripts, refills, and other inquiries.
    • Review Laboratory Test Results: Discuss any concerns with the psychiatric provider.
    • Communicate Medication Concerns: To psychiatric provider, guardian (as applicable), and client's therapist.
    • Document Concerns in Client Charts: Monitor as needed.
    • Collaborate with Mental Health Therapists: Regarding behavioral health concerns and outcomes.
    • Ensure Completion of Documentation: In all clients' charts as deemed appropriate.
    • Demonstrate Communication Skills: Written and verbal.
    • Show Respect and Courtesy: In all interactions and communication internal or external to the agency.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Spanish Speaking Preferred:
    • Two Years of Medical Assistant Experience: Preferable in an outpatient clinic setting.
    • Ability to Relate Well: To children, families, and other staff members.
