    Editor-in-Chief, The Marlin Group

    Bonnier LLC * Florida (Remote)

    The Marlin Group is seeking an Editor-in-Chief to lead all content initiatives across a diverse mix of media channels, including print, digital and related experiential events. Collectively, the group reaches more than a million anglers, captains, mates and boat owners annually.

    • Ideate and develop new editorial products and content initiatives to grow audience and revenue across all channels
    • Lead a team of staff and freelance resources to produce seven annual editions of Marlin magazine, the No. 1 global resource for big-game offshore anglers
    • Publish digital content across the group's email, website and social media platforms
    • Collaborate with sales and marketing colleagues in the development of custom content solutions for endemic marine clients
    • Leverage Marlin's international fishing tournaments and educational expeditions as content generation and sponsorship activation opportunities
    • This is a pivotal role with touchpoints across all group activities
    • Remote position with flexible work arrangements
    • Reports to Marlin Group CEO; requires a strong working partnership with Publisher / VP of Sales

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Excellent writer and editor with a strong portfolio showcasing both skills
    • Proven experience in content development across print and digital channels; magazine experience and social media proficiency strongly preferred
    • Visual storyteller adept at leveraging images, illustrations, maps, charts and other treatments to enhance reader interest
    • Collaborative team member who operates within a spirit of mutual respect towards colleagues
    • Demonstrates mastery of the tools necessary to do the job
    • Able to oversee/manage multiple programs/projects simultaneously
    • Adept at winning support of diverse stakeholders: sales, marketing, design, and digital teams, as well as freelance resources
    • Displays open-mindedness, willingness to experiment, and entrepreneurial spirit

    What You'll Do:

    The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for developing and executing all content initiatives across all group channels and properties. The role requires working closely with all disciplines to ideate comprehensive content plans, deliver best-in-class content within the big-game fishing market, and achieve audience growth and engagement targets across print, digital and event activities.

    The Editor-in-Chief will:

    • Develop annual editorial plans, in collaboration with key stakeholders
    • Write original content for print and digital applications
    • Edit contributor content to adhere to brand voice and other professional standards
    • Produce seven outstanding issues of Marlin magazine annually
    • Develop a digital-first content strategy in support of company growth targets
    • Execute weekly and monthly eNews campaigns
    • Post socially in support of Marlin and its related platforms (e.g. tournaments, expeditions)
    • Oversee content-based franchises, contests and initiatives
    • Ensure quality control, deadline compliance and budget adherence across all content activations
    • Represent Marlin at relevant industry events, including boat shows, trade shows, tournaments and client meetings

    About You:

    • A strong working knowledge of big-game fishing as an enthusiast and/or within the industry
    • 5-10 years of relevant editorial experience
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Google and Microsoft Office applications
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
    • Ability to prioritize, time-manage and adhere to tight deadlines
    • Ability to interpret and analyze data to form unique insights and make strategic decisions and recommendations
    • Enthusiasm about content development and a strong drive to improve results
    • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills
    • Ability to think and work across several different media-related disciplines
    • A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field
