    JOB SUMMARY

    The Operations Supervisor will provide oversight and direction to the direct labor work force in the manufacture of Medium Power Transformers and Power Delivery Systems. This role must carefully check prints and specifications on each order due to the variation of the products being manufactured. This role's responsibilities will include providing leadership to positively influence a Zero Harm safety culture and working environment, training inexperienced associates in the processes used to produce the product, setting the workmanship and quality expectations for all associates.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervises subordinates which involves assigning work to each employee to meet operating plan and manufacturing objectives, assisting them in laying out the assignments, interpreting assembly drawings, making machine set-ups, and solving unusual or complex production problems.
    • Establishes standards of workmanship to meet quality requirements and follows work in process closely to assure that these standards are maintained. Investigates processes that are out of conformance and takes appropriate action to eliminate.
    • Assists in the forecast of department labor requirements. Provides an annual expense budget for the department, an estimate of the expected direct labor costs, and the resulting variable burden ratio. Reviews actual monthly results to budget and takes corrective action as necessary to resolve discrepancies.
    • Works closely with Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering to assure compliance with the established Manufacturing Procedures. Reviews processes and departmental layout to assure lowest production costs and highest shop labor efficiency.
    • Interviews, recommends and trains shop work force to meet production demands.
    • Reviews performance, recommends merit/promotional increases within company's wage policy.
    • Establishes the departmental operating plan in conjunction with the Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Department. Maintains the department organization and housekeeping standards according to this plan.
    • Facilitate the accurate upkeep of employees' time and attendance records by utilizing Kronos timekeeping System
    • Investigates/resolve employee problems and determines, in consultation with Human Resources, administers discipline within the corporate guidelines
    • Maintain regular attendance to provide leadership to the production team for schedule adherence.
    • Comply with Collective Bargaining Agreement. Assist Human Resources in assessing bargaining strategies during negotiating periods.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Required Education / Experience

    Associate's degree in related field with two to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment including supervisory experience. Greater years of supervisor experience may be considered in lieu of Associate's degree.

    Preferred Education / Experience

    Bachelor's degree in related field
