    The RoleThe Quality Engineer II will be expected to play a major role in managing and implementing UCI's Quality Management System, providing advanced to expert statistical focus on process improvements used in the manufacturing of product at UCI.

    The Quality Engineer II will work with a team to coordinate the facility's quality interactions and all quality related functions; develop management tools and strategies to ensure that UCI meets Customer, AS9100 and Nadcap expectations for quality compliance, certifications, and inter-company communication.

    Drives timely root cause analysis and implementation of permanent preventative and corrective actions for quality issues working directly with manufacturing teams, customers and suppliers.

    Develops and establishes quality management system procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer specifications and contract requirements.

    Supports AS9100, NADCAP and Customer Audits.
    Performs internal product and process audits, and external supplier audits ensuring compliance with Quality Management System. Develops and initiates programs to improve internal and supplier performance.
    Uses methodical and systemic analytical approaches to perform effective RCCA's. Assesses quality performance trends and leads improvement efforts.
    Writes work instructions, process, and procedure documents to ensure compliance with product, process, customer, and system requirements.

    Develops statistical process controls by applying and maintaining applicable control charts, providing training and coaching of others throughout the organization in SPC methodology.

    Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continual improvement, lean manufacturing, 5s', and cost reduction activities to areas of production.

    Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality related activities. RequirementsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


    Education/Experience/Knowledge:
    Minimum of 3 years Quality experience within the aerospace industry.
    Advanced experience as a Quality Engineer and/or equivalent Manufacturing/Military experience/Aerospace Certificates; Bachelor's degree in Quality, or Manufacturing Technology preferredAdvanced knowledge of Manufacturing and Materials Processes/TechniquesAdvanced to Expert knowledge of AS9100 and RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action)Strong understanding of customer and program specification requirementsCertification

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.


    Certificates and Licenses:
    Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) by the American Society for Quality strongly desiredProficient in Microsoft Dynamics ERP strongly desired

    Computer Skills:
    Must be computer knowledgeable in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to management or coworkers.
    Experienced with geometric measurement and dimensional tolerancing. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Work Environment:


    Mostly an office working environment, but the position involves a certain amount of time spent on the factory floor working in a manufacturing environment where the noise levels are low to moderate.
