The new hire will work on the mechanical engineering team to machine and fabricate complex parts and assemblies to exacting tolerances in support of engineering projects.
Plan and perform complex machining operations involved in the machining of any range of prototype parts to meet exacting specifications.
Operate mill, lathe, drill or other machine tools to cut off, machine surfaces, bore, drill, ream, tap or otherwise process any range of varying materials to precise specifications.
Inspect conformity of parts at specified intervals to determine accuracy and compliance with engineering requirements.Assist to design and machine fixtures to specification for any assembly or test applications.
Perform minor repairs and conduct preventative maintenance on machinery in machine shop.
Anticipate material needs and generate requisitions for the purchase of materials, tooling and supplies as required to manufacture parts, maintain and operate machine shop.
Assist in the design, fabrication, and assembly of R&D Test Fixtures.Assist in performing R&D tests and related data collection.
Maintain safe and clean work areas and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
Comply with all company policies including the Employee Handbook
Operate hand tools, power tools, machining equipment including mill, CNC lathe, CNC mill, drills, dremel, shear, brake, grinder, belt/disk sander in fabrication of precision components
Ability to read and work from detailed mechanical drawings including an understanding of ASME Y14.Program CNC equipment from solid models using SurfCAM or similar CAM software
Proficient writing G code at the machine
Computer proficiency including MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook email
Basic understanding of metallurgical principles and ability to machine parts from a variety of materials
Proficiency with Solidworks 3D modeling software to make minor modifications to designs
