    Job SummaryPerforms the functions of ED Assistant under direction of the ED Registered Nurse/Emergency Department Manager.

    Is responsible to adhere to the standards of emergency care and perform those duties as directed; patient registration is primary function.

    Responsibilities Register patients, obtaining signatures for consent of treatment and assignment of insurance benefits.

    Obtain copies of insurance cards and IDComplete all ED forms with handwriting that is legible and neatAssist in ED record documentation as allowed by NYSDOH.

    Obtain vital signs, complaint and height/weight as needed, completion of history and medication reconciliation.
    Enter ordersAssist with ambulance communication, pre hospital and hospital, from the EDXerox copies of medical recordsOrders supplies as needed.

    Keeps the ED clean and neatRetrieves medical records from HIM when department is closedPerforms 12 lead EKG's, applies cardiac monitor, NIBP, and pulse oximeterEnsures collection, labeling and delivery of specimensTransports and moves patients safely and appropriatelyAssist MD/PA/NP by holding instruments and stabilizing extremitiesMaintains sterile/aseptic techniqueCleans instruments in proper solution for return to Central SupplyObtains ice from acute care for ED useAssists on acute care when there are no ED patientsIs knowledgeable of location, care and use of emergency department equipmentKnowledge of policies, procedures specific to the EDAdditional duties as assignedFax patient charts to Llobet Medical Group.

    Qualifications/Requirements EXPERIENCEEmergency Medical Technician within 6 monthsEDUCATIONPrehospital experience preferredLICENSES/CERTIFICATIONSMust have successfully completed a Basic Life Support CourseOTHERHave computer skills and able to typePhysical Requirements PHYSICAL ACTIVITYMust be able to lift a patient weighing 150 lbs with or without assistance, and be able to push up or move a minimum weight of 250 lbs a distance of 200 feet.

    OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSIs subject to exposure to infectious wastes, diseases which include TB, HIV, and Hepatitis B virusMust be able to think and act rapidly.

    Must possess the ability to work under pressure.
