    The SARA, Inc. High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and dedicated

    Senior Manufacturing Engineer


    to support production activities and transition innovative technologies and products to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors, from our Colorado Springs, CO location.

    The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with Project Managers, Manufacturing and Design Engineers, Inventory Control Specialists, Fabrication Technicians, and external vendors to ensure our ISO 9001 quality standards are met and exceeded.

    The

    Senior Manufacturing Engineer


    will be responsible for supervising, mentoring, and training the Manufacturing Product Engineering Team and other support staff necessary to produce the various products including Shielded Doors and Cabinets, RF Antennas, and other electromechanical manufacturing efforts within SARA, Inc.

    This individual will also work closely with our Quality Section to assist in improving and implementing processes and procedures that strive towards perfection.


    Core Responsibilities:
    Use sound engineering knowledge to design components, tools and develop fixtures aiding manufacturing efficiency and repeatability
    Use Lean Six Sigma and 5S processes during the design, manufacturing, and assembly phases
    Lead and mentor Manufacturing Product Engineering Team
    Work directly with assemblers and technicians on the factory floor, as well as, mechanical and electrical engineers
    Design development or extensions of current product portfolio's
    Drive processes for high mix low production products
    Liaise with vendors on design manufacturability and cost optimization
    Support other departments with technical queries and support
    Complete and control engineering design changes through the ISO 9001 ECO process
    Contribute to project planning and lead smaller scale internal projects
    Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement
    Developing detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow
    Researching and developing new capabilities, processes, equipment, and products
    Developing and implementing cost-saving measures and quality control systems
    Ensuring manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations


    Other Duties and Responsibilities:
    Participate in design reviews, technical reviews and program meetings ensuring that manufacturing knowledge, process capability is being shared, considered, and acted upon
    Generate, prepare, and review engineering information and documentation for various projects and products
    Complete technical reports around product designs and developments
    Prepare cost calculations and budgets for various projects and products


    Requirements:
    B.S. Degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical field
    10+ years of job-related production engineering experience
    Experience using CAD, CAM, data analysis programs, and related software
    Experience Leading and Mentoring Manufacturing Product Engineers and Technicians
    Experience in design for manufacturing, sustainment, and product lifecycle
    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    Experience with Six Sigma & Lean Process Improvements
    Strong organization skills
    Strong analytical thinker
    Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
    Ability to organize, prioritize workload efficiently
    Must be detail oriented
    Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
    US Citizenship required
    May require moderate physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds
    Working environment is indoor, can be moderately loud, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated, moderate physical hazards may exist


    Preferred Qualifications:
    M.S. Degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical field
    10,000+ hours of SolidWorks or Creo usage
    5+ years of design or manufacturing management experience
    Knowledge of Pulse Power, EMP, and RF Shielded Effectiveness applications

    Salary Range:
    $120,000 - $156,000 DOE
