    DENTAL HYGIENIST


    SITE OF SERVICE:

    • Camp Lejeune, NC
    POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
    • Degree:Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree
    • Education: Successful completion of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA).
    • Certification:Certified in radiography as required by 42 CFR Part 75.
    • Additional Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on course through American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
    • Experience: One year of clinical competency within the past two years in the required clinical discipline.
    • License:Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Dental Hygienist.
    • English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
    • HCW Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES:
    • Must be able to navigate and utilize Corporate Dental Application (CDA)/Corporate Dental System (CDS), i.e. check/review patient schedule, check-in patients, make appointments, pull-up x-rays, Record/Chart daily dental treatment and time involved in patient care and non-patient functions.
    OR
    • Must learn how to navigate and utilize Corporate Dental Application (CDA)/Corporate Dental System (CDS) within 90 days of onboarding. The HCW will be expected to check/review patient schedule, check-in patients, make appointments, pull-up x-rays, Record/Chart daily dental treatment and time involved in patient care and non-patient functions.

    GENERAL DUTIES:
    • Examine patient's oral cavity to include mouth, throat, and pharynx, and record conditions of teeth and surrounding tissues. Refer patients to dentist who have abnormalities to include cavities, defective fillings, suspicious growths, or periodontal disease.
    • Apply desensitizing and other topical agents to treat abnormalities to include caries prevention, gingivitis and oral ulceration.
    • Instruct patients, individually and in groups, in proper oral hygiene care using materials to include teeth models, displays, slides, toothbrushes, dental floss, disclosing tablets and mirrors.
    • Demonstrate proper techniques of brushing, flossing, and use of necessary periodontal aids. Explain the common causes of tooth decay and its relationship to general diet.
    • Take impressions and construct sports/safety mouth guards and soft night guards for vital bleaching.
    • Polish restorations and apply pit and fissure sealants.
    • Chair side dental assisting when directed by the Officer-In-Charge of the dental clinic.
    • Record patients treated. Check and maintain instruments to ensure working condition. Clean, sharpen, and sterilize instruments.
    • Maintain an awareness of responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
    • Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth.
    • Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives, and prepare such records and reports as may be required. All records and reports must be legible. Abbreviations must be only those listed in local instructions.

    HOURS:
    • Services shall be provided between the hours of 0600 and 1800, Monday through Friday.
    • Full-time health care workers (HCWs) shall normally provide services for 40 hours per week.
    • Services are required for a period 8.5 or 9 hours (including a 30 minute or 1 hour uncompensated meal break, depending on shift length).
    • Employees should not be in their place of work earlier than 15 minutes prior to clocking-in at the start of the workday and no later than 15 minutes after clocking out at the end of the scheduled workday.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

    Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
