    Job Description

    The North American Market (NAM) is one of Danfoss Drives "Must Win" regions which carries extremely high growth goals.

    Realizing the tremendous opportunity available in the NAM Municipal Water & Wastewater channel, this has placed an increased focus on the importance of the successful execution of a Business Development strategy.


    The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and strengthening customer relationships while maximizing sales within NAM in the Municipal Water & Wastewater Markets.

    This position is accountable for achieving the Regional sales and profitability goals.

    Job Responsibilities

    Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

    Develop and sustain a sales plan for region which covers Top Consulting Engineers.

    Increasing the number of Specifications where Danfoss is named as a Qualified Supplier.

    Assist RSM's in growing End User, Distribution, OEM, and System Integrator business.

    Lead Account/Market plans to grow profitable business with consulting engineers.

    Proactively work with Sales Representatives and Distribution to deploy sales strategies.

    Excel within a matrixed, multinational sales organization to coordinate projects that include: quoting, submitting, manufacture, installation, and service.

    Assist RSM's in building a pipeline of sales opportunities that supports exceeding target sales Quotas.

    Become Danfoss Drives subject matter expert for North America and remain current as new solutions and products are released.

    Assist with RSM, Sales Partner & Customer product training.


    Develop strong ties with key accounts and be proactive in understanding the trends and issues likely to impact the market.

    Assist in sales partner development and research new partner possibilities.


    Represent Danfoss in Professional Trade Associations, such as Hydraulic Institute, Association of Municipal Water Authorities, WEFTEC, as well as participating with Water Technology Association workshops.

    Interface with Global Water Business Unit Team to ensure alignment and achievement in sales efforts.

    Travel within the region with up to 60% overnight

    Background & Skills


    Required Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field, Electrical background a plus.

    5+ Years relevant experience with variable speed drives and/or automation.

    Experience demonstrating a solid track record of meeting aggressive sales objectives.

    Experience with all facets of building and executing successful sales plans.

    Advanced strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

    Excellent written and oral communications skills, with the ability to deliver presentations in both small and large group environments.

    Ability to write reports, recommendations, proposals, and other documents for executive business management.

    Must be able to work independently with time management and organizational skills.

    Proficiency in the use of computer software applications for sales management. Computer proficiency in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word applications is required. Microsoft Teams is a plus.

    Deep motivation to make positive contributions to the team and business.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Strong technical knowledge of VFD and applications.

    Strong knowledge of Municipal Water & Wastewater markets.

    Strong knowledge of Consulting Engineers role & responsibility in the Bid & Spec process

    Extensive knowledge about the market within assigned territory.

    Excellent business Acumen.

    Ability to gain strong product and product positioning knowledge.

    Experience developing a Channel Partner network.
