    Responsibilities

    Finance Specialist Sr., Accounting Clerk, Finance Admin Assistant.

    Duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency; handling complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary, coaching and professional development.

    Management Duties

    Performs specialized financial, accounting or planning activities, investigations, coordination, and analysis requiring competence and specialized knowledge of various financial functions such as budgeting, auditing, financial planning, taxes, consolidations and the like.

    Conducts special studies and surveys to summarize and analyze complex financial actions and prepare recommendations for policy, procedure, control, or action.

    Provides interpretation and application of corporate or divisional level financial policies, governmental legislation, accounting theory or customer financial regulations that may require an advanced knowledge of financial principles, practices, and application.

    Evaluates complex profit plans, operating records, financial statements and the like.

    Directs and/or assists in the preparation of special studies, reports, analyses, and recommendations in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports and business forecasts for the financial community or management use.

    Coordinates with corporate/divisional management on the implementation of complex financial matters. Represents financial management in meetings with other organizations, within or outside of the institution Gap Analysis and Hyperion reporting. Provide back up for CHS financial staff as needed and other special projects as assigned.
    Oversight for Daily Finance Functions


    Pcard, employee reimbursement, Concur, quarterly and annual financial forecasting, vendor invoice processing, purchase orders, travel/business expense reports and People Pay reports.

    Oversight and for third party insurance biller and UM treasury office task and investigation of payment problems and ensure that payments are posted to UM discretionary fund,Preparation of DBE's on behalf of project staff.

    Monthly projection and Finance status of projects for CHS directors and managers as needed.
    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a financially related field and 3 to 5 years of experience.

    Ability to independently work with program managers and multiple university departments to ensure that all deadlines for submission, reporting and project closeouts are met.

    Strong communication, attention to detail and analytical skills.
    3-4 years of experience with UM accounting funds, policies and procedures.
    Desired Qualifications

    Experience with eResearch and eRPM.

    Experience with UM business processes including Wolverine Access, FinODS (including the Data Warehouse), FinPROD (eProcurement, Accounts Payable, General Ledger), HR Management System and Travel and Expense (CONCUR) and the Hospital Datamart.

    Bachelor's degree in related field.
